Very occasionally, a spell would be given to a team that could be used without being spellcast in the conventional manner. The self-activating SLOW spell in Series 4 was one example; the so-called Reveal Hidden spell in Series 8 was another. Stiletta was in possession of at least one, knew it to be compatible with the Reach wand and so "charged" the wand with the spell for Team 6 of Series 8. This process seemed to involve Stiletta holding the Reach wand and pulling a face, causing it to emit a cheap confirmative sound effect. When dungeoneer Dunstan used the wand on a wall in Fireball Alley, the spell activated and revealed the hidden entrance to the Short Cut to Level 3. It was at this point, some say, that the magic ran out.
